DEFEND YOURSELF

Every believer must engage in activities which teach us to defend ourselves from spiritual attack. Scriptures tell us that the Devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. We are also told to put on the full armor of God and then to be ready in season and out of season to make a defense for our faith. What these verses tell us is that an enemy is on the prowl to destroy our relationship with God. Therefore, we must do everything we can to defend ourselves against such attacks. Most of that defense is discovered as we mature ourselves spiritually through discipleship. The study options for every member of the family which occur throughout the week are designed to strengthen our faith so that we not only grow to understand God more, but receive from Him the strength and wisdom we need to live victorious Christian lives. These spiritual “self-defense” classes are essential to Christian living. The truth is, Sunday morning worship is not enough to sustain a dynamic Christian life. The corporate gathering each Sunday is important and essential to our Christian walk. It cannot, however, be the only food we put on our spiritual plate. Essentially, worship is feeding God’s soul. Studying the Bible feeds our soul. Both disciplines are needed.

Every Sunday at 9 AM our church provides Sunday School for every member of the family. These classes are a great way to connect with people as well as deepen your understanding of God’s Word. Additionally, on Tuesday and Wednesday of`each week there are a variety of Bible studies and ministries designed to teach us to defend ourselves in our faith. Please read through the list below, consider you options. I pray that you will decide to participate in some way.

TRANSFORMING LIFE (Adult Study)

The first class begins on Wednesday, January 16 at 6:30 PM. If you want to be a part of this class please call the church office.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY

Classes will resume in August 2008

COLLEGE AGE STUDY:

The Graduation and Beyond class meets on Tuesday evenings off campus at 7:30 p.m. Our Current Study is entitled Every Day Saints which helps us examine how to live a holy life in a practical and “every day” way. Call the church office for details and location.

STUDENT MINISTRIES (9-12TH GRADE):

Every Wednesday, young people of FourTwelve (1st Timothy 4:12), the youth ministry of Conway First Naz, meet in the FourTwelve room @ 6:45 pm for a night of excitement, music, worship, challenge and interaction. Every week is powerful, starting with the amazing FourTwelve worship band and moving into a relevant, exciting teaching that is sure to help you grow in your faith in God. Sometimes, the night ends with students breaking into “FourTwelve Life Groups” where young people connect with the Word and with each other. The night is filled with lights, atmosphere, video and other media to make it a youth experience that can’t be missed. Special guests and rally nights are also thrown in as just one more reason to make Wednesday “FourTwelve” part of your weekly schedule.

Our current theme deals with a Biblical approach to dealing with unresolved hurt and pain. Let’s face it, sometimes LIFE HURTS and we get caught up in habits that are hard to break. If you are dealing with pain (who isn’t?) including: addictions, eating disorders, abuse, pornography, drinking, cutting, etc., then Life Hurts God Heals is for you. Life Hurts God Heals is targeted specifically for students in middle school through college age, and is based on the beatitudes from the Bible.

ROUTE 56 (5TH AND 6TH GRADE MINISTRIES):

This group is currently studying the 10 Commandments. We are taking one commandment at a time and discussing how these commands apply to living the life Jesus wants us to live. Our next study will concentrate on learning the books of the Bible and being able to look up key passages.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:

Benson Buddies (3yrs old to Pre-School)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

Today's young children live in a global society. Few people recognize absolute moral standards. God gives His people clear direction in His Word for relating to Him and others. Proverbs 3:5, the motto for Benson's Buddies, helps children learn and understand they can "Trust in the Lord."

Benson is a red, English-style, double-decker bus. Benson's Buddies are children four-to six-years old and not yet in first grade. The Benson's Buddies two-year curriculum introduces young children to many social settings that exist in their communities, cities, and the world.

A major objective of Benson Buddies is to foster Christian character and lifestyle.

This program also introduces preschoolers to the form and ceremonies of the Caravan program. Children learn an official pledge, motto, and song and receive awards based on their participation in the lessons.

Statement of Purpose

* Benson's Buddies is a Biblically–based curriculum for children four–to six–years old, not yet in first grade that presents Christian moral standards to young children.

* Benson's Buddies considers whole-child development-spiritual, mental, physical and social.

* Benson's Buddies provides Bible and contemporary stories and experience-oriented activities that foster Christian character and lifestyle.

Caravan Ministry (1st grade through 4th grade)

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

The Caravan ministry exists to help elementary-age children become more like Jesus by encouraging their growth in the four specific areas mentioned in Luke 2:52: mental (wisdom), physical (stature), spiritual (favor with God), and social (favor with men).

Caravan is a time for children to learn how they can grow in all areas of their lives. It also helps children develop an appreciation for and understanding of Nazarene heritage and beliefs.

Each of the above mentioned classes meet on the Second floor of the Family Life Center. Nursery is provided for children age birth to two years old on the first floor nursery wing located in the Family Life Center.
