A dmit your need

The first step in becoming a Christian is to admit that we need God's help. Man is separated from his     Creator because of sin. Only with God's help can we find true inner peace and the ultimate purpose for our lives.

As a human being we are born with a "sin nature" passed down from the original sin of Adam. Romans 5:12.
The first step towards salvation is to acknowledge that there is sin in our life and we want to do something about it. Romans 3:23

B elieve Jesus is who He says He is

God sent His Son Jesus to help us. It is only through the help that Jesus gives us that we can come to God. There is no other way to God.

Jesus plainly stated that he was the way to reach God. The only way to reach God (John 14:6).
That's right, God's plan of salvation had him sacrifice his only Son for you and me. The amount of love both Father(for sending Jesus) and Son(for actually dying) showed for us with this act is almost unimaginable. (Romans 5:8).

C onfess and receive Jesus as the leader of your life

The final step in becoming a Christian is to personally acknowledge Jesus as our new controlling factor in life and receive His spirit into our lives. Then Jesus does the rest.

As an act of closure for step A, God wishes us to confess those sins that we freely admit we have. (1 John 1:9).
This doesn't mean we have to get up in front of a group and rattle off every bad thing we've ever done, the confession is to God and it is enough for us to tell him simply that we are aware of our sin and wish to turn from it. He already knows the details... (Hebrews 4:13).

The final step God asks of us is to accept Jesus as ruler over our lives. He also wants us to tell other believers of our decision. (Romans 10:9-10).

That's it. That's all it takes to become a Christian, a follower of Christ, a child of God. (John 1:12).
