When? Where? Why?

When and where are easy. Our main time of fellowship is on Wednesday nights at the back of Conway First Church of the Nazarene. Generally folks start to gather around 6:30 and we try to get started a bit before 7:00. We also get together Sunday mornings at 9:00 and meet before church also. Now, as for why. What is it that we're all about? Maybe why we call ourselves 4:12 or what that tagline on the front page means? Taking the group out of youth group? I guess we'll start there.

First of all we're not trying to take away the togetherness that always forms as people of like interest spend time with one another. We're simply looking to avoid the types of subgroups that seem to form anywhere a mass of people gather...the cliques and factions that only end up isolating a great number of people and always make it difficult for new faces to feel welcome. That is why we try our best to avoid the words 'youth group' whenever possible, prefering to be know as a youth or student minstry.

That brings us to a second point. The fact that we do strive to be a ministry, to reach out beyond the walls that we meet behind and bring new people to 4:12 and ultimately lead those people to a fulfilling relationship with God. So put in a formal statement...

'4:12 exists to Reach out to pre-Christian students, so they can KNOW Christ and His Church, to help them GROW in their faith, equipping them to GO and impact the world using their spiritual gifts to SHOW others the way to Christ.'

To finish up this little introduction, I still need to expound a bit on where the name '4:12' comes from. If you watched the little flash intro on the index page(click the blue header pictures to see it again), you already know it comes from 1 Timothy 4:12. In this verse, young people are encouraged to be the 'example-setters' even if they are looked on by the older generation as 'just kids'. Like all of God's word, we believe this message applies to us still today. So that's why we're 4:12 Student Minstries and that's why we strive to live up to our name.
